Kurat is a coop action tabletop game inspired by Estonian folklore. Kurat centres around a family visited by the devil in the dead of night. They have a blood debt that can only be repaid by playing the devil's favourite board game, Kurat. To survive, they must draw cards with unique scenarios attached, battle mythical beings, and make important decisions as a team. The game features a unique combat system using the right stick to swing and stab your weapon. Players must survive to the end in order to succeed, however if one of your team members die, you all lose. The Players must work together as a team if they want to survive and beat the devil at his own game.

Kurat is developed by a team of 5 developers. My role in the project was the game design and the 2D assets, I also worked on numerous other parts such as the writing and the promotion. My main goal working on this project was to make the game stand out both visually and mechanically. To do this I took inspiration from board games, various indie titles, books, and films. Kurat was featured at Insomnia 68 and we received extremely positive feedback. Kurat has also been nominated for best student project at the TIGA awards. The game was initially produced for my final major project for university, but development is being continued and we plan on releasing Kurat on steam.

Super pogo frog is a game I am working on with a friend. The game is a 2.5D precision platformer involving a frog who wants to reach the top of the world. However, the game will use its simplicity to push the boundaries on platforming mechanics and storytelling.

I did all the design and art for this project. It was initially made as a portfolio piece for a university assignment, but we had so much fun working together we decided we wanted to finish the game. Our intention with this project will be to push the boundaries of familiar game mechanics in interesting ways, we are both using this project as an experimental learning process. We are releasing the game in episodes as we have no deadline for this project, this means we can fully polish every aspect of each episode before release. The game will be released for free in multiple episodes and will be playable through an internet browser.

Intergalactic Planet Panic is a roguelike rhythm shooter. You play as a vain musician who leaves earth on a quest to finally find a planet where people like your music. The gameplay consists of shooting musical notes at enemies to the beat of the soundtrack in a top-down shooter style. The level takes place on a 3D cube with each face serving as a room, once all faces are complete the player can move to the next planet, eventually facing off against the final boss “the censor ship”. Each planet has a musical genre as its theme such as the “cool jazz” ice themed planet and the “Hard Rock” themed quarry level each with its own accompanying soundtrack to shoot along to.

I worked on this game as lead designer and artist along with two programmers for our self-directed placement at university. Although the game was never finished, all the assets and design where completed. I really loved the premise of this project and had a great time designing mechanics and story for this project. I also really enjoyed animating the 2D assets and creating tile sets for all the levels.
